DWI Drill
at High School for Jr.'s & Sr.'s
05/14/09
It was the intent of this drill to express the serious outcome that can result from drinking and driving
to the driving age teenagers of our school district. A 2 car motor vehicle accident was staged using
cars donated from A&M garage in Fancher. The scenario showed 1 teenager driving a minivan, while
under the influence striking and rolling a car with someones teenage daughter and adolescent son
causing the death of the son. Fire Departments from Kendall, Morton, and Hulberton were called in as
well as ambulances from Kendall and Monroe Ambulance. The Orleans County Sheriffs Office
responded with a road Deputy, an Investigator, and Coroner as well as the hurse from Christopher
Mitchell Funeral home. The scenario was narrated by Asst. Chief Doug Jones. The aspects of
extrication, patient care, DWI investigation and arrest, Parental distress, and body removal were
explained in detail with further narration from Investigator Cory Black as well. It was our desire that
the information presented be digested by the young adults of our community and aid in the
discussions that you have had with your children about the dangers of driving under the influence.
