House Fire
16715 Kenmor Rd

Kendall was dispatched for a possible structure fire at 16715 Kenmor Rd around 10:30 am Friday
5/15/09. Upon arrival a fully involved house fire was declared. Auto mutual aid had been started at the
time of dispatch for a ladder from Holley, a pumper and rescue from morton and a FAST team from
Hamlin. A pumper from Hulberton , an ALS ambulance from Monroe and additional manpower from
Albion was also requested by Kendall 1. Kendall 34 took a hydrant around the corner and layed in to
the fire and initiated a blitz attack with its deck gun and then an aggressive interior attack of the first
floor. The fire appeared to be knocked down but flared right back up. The house began to show signs
of becoming unstable and interior operations were ceased for the safety of the firefighters. Kendall 52
pulled through the vacant lot across the street and supplied additional hand lines and worked as a
nurse tanker with K-34. Kendall 33 was placed west of the fire to protect exposures. Holley 40 was
placed in the east yard and began large water opperations being supplied by K-34 to extinguish the
remainder of the fire. Over haul opertations began as well as fire cause and orgin investigation.
Several departments rotated men through to aid the investigators who also requested a K-9 unit from
NYS Fire out of Montour Falls. The house was later fenced off by Emergency Enclosures and all
personnel back in service at midnight. The investigation is still ongoing. No one was home at the time
of the fire.
