Lomond Shores
Lumber fire beside the house
05/14/09
Kendall was dispatched for a pile of wood on fire next to the house at 16045 Lomond Shores at
approximately 2:45 am.  Kendall 6 upon arrival declared a fire next to the house in a lumber pile with 2
propane tanks and the house immediately exposed. Kendall 1 requested a full assignment from
Kendall and cancelled all automatic mutual aid after determining the fire was burning it's self out and
that it had not spread to the house. Kendall 34 took the front of the house and the front attack line was
deployed. K-52 staged behind K-34 and K-33 staged at the closest hydrant about 200' away. The fire
was extinguished and overhaul performed. The cause of the fire was paint and stain laden rags that
had been disposed of in the plastic garbage can next to the lumber pile. The rags laden with stain had
built heat and ignited with the other flammables in the can. All trucks and personnel were back in
service at 4:00am.
